Unit 5: PYPx - May 8th - May 12th
Last week in your mentor meeting, you took a photograph of your group with your mentor. This week, you need to write text that will go along with the photo. Since you'll be doing this as a team, please use a Google Doc. Your writing should describe what it was like working with your mentors. These will go on display for the Exhibition event on May 18th.
We will also focus on speaking/presenting during PYPx presentations. At home practice performing in front of a mirror and your family.
Like last week, if you haven't finished publishing your Literacy and Maths components, this should be done on your time.

Modes of Expression: Your Language and Mathematics Modes of Expression drafts are due Monday 24th April. Your teacher will give you feedback and time in lessons to edit your work and publish it. Please use any extra time at home to ensure this is completed and submitted to your PYPx teacher by Friday 28th April.
Action: We will be focusing on the Action component of your PYPx this week, so use your homework time to expand on the work we will be doing in class.

Unit 5: PYPx ~ Week 7 April 18th - April 21st
This week we will be starting our Literacy and Mathematics Modes of Expression first drafts. Students have chosen a way to share their understanding of their Exhibition topics in different ways (eg. A diary of two perspectives, an infographic, a collection of graphs, etc.). The first drafts are due by next Monday, April 24th. The final drafts should be finished by Friday, April 28th. As homework, students should continue research as necessary and work on their drafts.
In addition, students will continue to work on assigned work on Mathletics.
ISU Time Capsule: Think about what Grade 5 could submit for the Time Capsule.

UoI: Draw a diagram or flowchart showing how decisions are made in your home. Remember to include everyone in your family and anyone who works with your family. You must explain what each person’s role is in your family. Are they a dictator, an advisor, the president? What do they do and why?
Mathematics: We're just starting our unit about collecting and analysing data. See if you can find any examples of data being used. Have a look in books, newspapers, the Internet and so on. Please bring in what you find throughout the week.

1) Please read: cutting down a forest - 7 roles (shared with you on google drive) and choose one of the roles. You will read this aloud to the class. You can add more information to strengthen your argument if you'd like. We'll be learning more about strengthening an argument this week in class. If you're prefer a hard copy instead, please ask your teacher on Monday.
